There are times when I feel that the holidays, almost any holiday frankly, has lost it's meaning and simply become a means to sell products and get more stuff. I do a lot of product reviews over on The Chocolate Cult but sometimes I'm offered a product to review that just doesn't make sense there so from time to time I'll be doing a review here. One of these is today for a contest and a product from iCaughtSanta.com. Their site gives you a background for your photos that you can then share either via Internet posts or you could print them out to mail the old fashioned way.
We aren't much for family photos in my house so I had several old ones converted to digital so I could try iCaughtSanta.com to test the company out. One thing was immediately confusing because originally I thought that they had not only Santa images but background you could just insert yourself and your family into. That turned out not to be the case -- you put the Santa (and some Rudolph) images into your photo. That makes more sense because I'm not even sure how to cut out a background to a photo myself so the people are all that is left.
I conducted my testing of this website on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, starting at 9:05am and ending at 9:37am. The formatting is pretty straight forward if you have ever done anything similar on your computer. There is a tutorial video or step-by-step guide, too.
Making the first photo was easy, took about 6 minutes total. This is a scene from way back in time when we lived in NYC for five years. Our first ever visit to the Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center. I figured this one was a good one to try because I didn't have to manipulate Santa around us but around a monument. See he's pointing to the tree!
While I waited for the first photo to arrive in my email I created a second one. Then I realized that you don't need an email to get it. Right after you create it, you can download it especially with the freebie coupon we have below for you all to try.
The second photo was just as easy though it took longer to find a good Santa that would fit well with the image. There are 20 images to chose from and you may want to click them to see them full size. Sometimes the face is the only really difference so look carefully. This was taken when I was in college and that's my future husband with me. We were dressed up for a formal dance as as you can see Santa is checking out his "naughty" or "nice" list and making adjustments. Don't worry we didn't do anything "too naughty" that night.
You might notice that I used a different border for each photo -- that is something you can add to the pictures as you manipulate them on the site. You don't have to have a border so let's look at one without a border, shall we?
This is also from back in NYC -- geesh! I was thin then and my hair wasn't particularly good, was it? We didn't have a lot of money back then and the first apartment was around 300 square feet only! I still had a kitchen -- I think it was a converted closet -- so I did bake cookies. Look! Santa is eating one! Chocolate chip, too, just like I'd make.
If you want to give the site a try yourself you can use this code until December 10th to try it free: #SantaShare
There is a contest you can enter at the iCaughtSanta.com website as well to win several prizes so you might want to check that out. They use Rafflecopter so just follow the instructions to enter.
I did have fun with this and I was done creating three images in about half an hour so it is fast. I think even little kids could use this program and have a blast. So give it a try and leave a comment letting me know if you had fun doing so please.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Tomoson.com. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.
